The Taekwon-do oath is recited at the beginning of every class:
- I shall observe the tenets of Taekwon-do
- I shall respect the instructor and seniors
- I shall never misuse Taekwon-do
- I shall be a champion of freedom and justice
- I shall build a more peaceful world

- Ensure you do not need to visit the lavatory during class.
- Get changed in an appropriate changing room and not in the training hall.
- Ensure your training suit (do bok) is clean and tidy, and that the belt is tied correctly.
- When entering or leaving the training hall, bow to the National, Federation or Association flag if displayed, and to the instructor if present.
|
- Always refer to your instructor and black belts as Mr, Mrs or Miss and answer Sir or Madam.
- When sitting on the floor, sit cross-legged and do not fidget.
- When asking your instructor a question, stand to attention, bow to the instructor and ask the question when signalled. When the instructor has finished, stand to attention and bow to the instructor.
- If seated, raise your hand to ask the question, and stand when signalled. Remain standing until asked to sit down.
